Bald Head Island, NC was every bit the charming, southern island we’d hoped it would be! We couldn’t have been more excited to board the island ferry over and hop aboard our golf cart transportation for our long wedding weekend away. This was our first time to Bald Head and now we know it certainly won’t be our last. Drooping Spanish moss laden trees lined the streets and hovered over the pathways…ahhh it was really so quaint and beautiful! We absolutely know why Lindsay and Jason chose this destination for their most special day.
Lindsay grew up coming to Bald Head Island with her family and they shared so many precious memories here that it wouldn’t be right to get married anywhere else! We arrived just in time on Wednesday evening for a good ole’ family shrimp boil! That food was amazing. Nothing like fresh seafood at the beach. The families gathered together enjoying laughs, stories and even played corn hole under the beautiful milky way galaxy at night.
Bald Head Island offered any and everything you would want for a beautiful destination wedding. Everything seemed to be just a short golf cart ride away including the spa, which the bridesmaids took advantage of before the big day.
Absolutely beautiful sunshine filled the skies on the wedding day leaving no room for rain. Off to the spa the bride and her bridesmaids went to get ready in the morning as the guys hung out and began to sharpen their attire.
We were so excited to be able to capture Jason & Lindsay’s first look at the Bald Head Island lighthouse known as “Old Baldy.” We found the perfect shade and Jason awaited his soon-to-be Bride. You could feel the anticipation in the air as Jason stood with his back to the spot where Lindsay would stand. Through the sounds of the breeze, Jason began to hear his love approach him awaiting his gaze.
Just on the other side of the nearby white picket fence was the Bald Head Island Chapel. Hidden amongst the Spanish moss trees, it overlooked the marsh and has sophisticated inside architecture that setup for a unique ceremony.
We love the image we caught of Mr. Davis standing in the lobby reflective and anticipating what was coming next. We can only imagine the lifetime of memories that must have washed over him in a matter of a few minutes before walking Lindsay down the aisle…
Following the ceremony, the whole wedding party hopped into their golf carts and headed down to the bridge that overlooks the marsh. It was quite hot, but the high spirited wedding party didn’t seem to mind it one bit. What a fun time taking their group pictures around the island!
Back to the beach house for a party! Barbecue with all the fixins, pounds and pounds of mac and cheese, and the best key lime and banana pudding cupcakes ever. The festivities carried on with some dancing, talking and little more friendly competition of corn hole. Just as the sun was setting on the beach, Jason & Lindsay came out for a stroll enjoying their time as Mr. and Mrs. Lackey.
Jason & Lindsay, we want to thank you for allowing us to capture your day, but not only that, but spend time with you, your family and your friends. We absolutely loved every minute of it. You guys are an awesome couple. And just wait till you see the other 700 images from your wedding weekend! 🙂
